Many Samsung Galaxy phones can now forward calls to a Windows PC

Microsoft has begun rolling out call forwarding support via Link to Windows, allowing Android users to take calls right from their computer. The new experience is available for Android devices, including several Samsung phones.

In fact, Samsung phones make up the majority of the list; the Surface Duo is the only non-Samsung phone on the list that supports Link to Windows. With Link to Windows on your Android device and Your Phone app on your PC, you can transfer content between devices, use mobile apps on your computer, and take calls.

Some of the supported devices include the Surface Duo, Galaxy Z Flip, Galaxy S20, Galaxy S10e, and many others. There are 38 Samsung devices total that support Link to Windows.

SamMobile notes that not all Samsung devices listed as compatible are guaranteed to support call forwarding to your Windows PC. That’s because the feature is only available in certain regions, although Microsoft doesn’t specify which ones.

SamMobile said it tried getting the call forwarding to work on a Galaxy Note 10, but ran into issues.

For example, I still haven’t been able to forward calls to my desktop because the Your Phone app installed on the latter does not recognize the Speedlink Bluetooth receiver I’m using. That’s in spite of the fact that this adapter is regularly used for sending and receiving data between my Galaxy Note 10 and the very same PC. So, if Microsoft can’t get its own app running on its own OS to recognize subsystems managed by its own generic drivers, it’s safe to say you shouldn’t count on this call forwarding functionality to work prior to testing it out yourself.

That doesn’t sound very promising, but hopefully all the kinks get ironed out over the coming weeks. In addition to call forwarding, SamMobile said the Link to Windows improves access to photos on your phone. Whereas the service previously allowed users to see their last 25 images, the cap has been raised to 2,000.

You can see the full list of supported devices on Microsoft’s website.
